Chelsea

Chelsea’s journey into tattooing began with college, where she studied art, Leading her to apply for an apprenticeship at 18.

After gaining some initial experience and having a desire to become heavily tattooed herself she secured a tattooing job at 24, apprenticing locally for a year before moving to As Above So Below. Although she briefly left to chase the dream of classic street shop vibes she later returned, driven by the desire to further her career being surrounded by reputable artists and the aesthetics of a private studio.

Chelsea has now been tattooing for around five years and has developed a strong preference for traditional tattooing, with neo-traditional as her second favorite style, which she hopes to explore more in the future. Her work is inspired by a mix of influences, including her colleagues, Kat Von D, nature, painting and drawing, as well as vintage imagery like old greetings cards.

When it comes to her design process, Chelsea begins by drawing inspiration from shapes found in reference images sent to her by clients, sketching ideas on paper before refining and composing the design digitally using Procreate, ensuring all changes are made beforehand so the tattooing process runs smoothly, prioritizing clients time.

What she loves most about tattooing is the connection with clients, meeting new people, and being part of the wider culture and community, all of which continue to fuel her passion for the art.
