Ellen
Ellen’s path into tattooing wasn’t a straightforward one. Despite taking art at GCSE level, she admits she didn’t enjoy the conventional introduction into tattooing.

Ellen spent a lot of time building a portfolio which focused on traditional and neo traditional drawings and paintings. Her interest in tattooing developed later, leading her to pursue an apprenticeship in 2022 - which she completed over two years. During that time, Ellen worked in a few different local shops before joining As Above So Below in October 2025.

Ellen’s favorite style is traditional tattooing, particularly with bold colour, and she’s keen to continue developing this aspect of her work. She draws inspiration from other artists in the industry, The likes of Barb Tattoos who Ellen has personally been tattooed by, and enjoys creating traditional flash designs with her own unique twist - often prioritizing flash work and painting in her free time and even gifting her paintings to others, Ellens love for the craft is undeniable.

When approaching a design, Ellen likes to brainstorm ideas with her colleagues and typically presents the final tattoo concept to the client on the day.

What keeps her passionate about tattooing is the constant creative outlet it provides, along with the supportive work environment and strong sense of camaraderie she shares with her colleagues.
